Overview & Responsibilities

The International Development Law Organization (IDLO) is an inter-governmental organization devoted to promoting the rule of law. IDLO works to enable governments and empower people to reform laws and strengthen institutions to promote peace, justice, sustainable development, and economic opportunity. We contribute to creating stable and inclusive societies where every person can live free from fear and want, in dignity and under the rule of law.

IDLO seeks an intern for an opportunity to support the work of IDLO Philippines to ensure effective and efficient program delivery. The current focus is on capacity building to support the Philippine justice sector.

Under the direct supervision of the Field Programme Manager and the Field Programme Coordinators, the Intern will provide support for the following:

  • Support the planning and implementation of programme activities;
  • Provide research assistance on customary informal justice, cybercrime, legal aid, gender, climate, anti-corruption and other substantive issues assigned by the supervisor;
  • Support the preparation of project reports, concept notes, training materials, and other programme materials;
  • Assist the Country Office with day-to-day project administrative tasks;
  • Assist staff members, when necessary, with any issues that arise; and
  • Perform any other similar duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Education and Professional Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in social sciences, law or any other related field;
  • Experience in data entry in online databases and data analysis; and
  • Similar work experience is beneficial, ideally within an international organization.

Languages

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is required.

Skills and Competencies

  • Practical experience with clear, concise writing;
  • Excellent research skills;
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office programs;
  • Ability to respond timely to queries and provide feedback;
  • Ability to work constructively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision;
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and willing to take on tasks small and large; and
  • Keen sense of ethics, integrity and commitment to IDLO’s mandate.

Terms & Conditions

IDLO provides half-time interns (20 hours per week) a monthly stipend of PHP 7,500 and full-time interns (40 hours per week) a monthly stipend of PHP 15,000. Internships are offered for 3 months and are renewable up to a maximum of 6 months.

Applicants should be between the ages of 21-30 years old.
