Gender equality is among IDLO’s core values and guiding principles. IDLO’s Strategic Plan 2025-2028 states that: Gender equality, including the ability of women and girls to enjoy the full range of their human rights and meaningfully participate in all aspects of society, is a key aspect of human rights and a necessary condition for progress towards the entire 2030 Agenda”. It identifies reducing the justice gap for women and girls as one of six IDLO Outcomes. More specifically, it includes: (a) promoting the elimination of discriminatory laws and practices: (b) support institutions to address the justice needs of women and girls; (c) protect women and girls rights in digital spaces; (d) champion women’s leadership in the justice sector; and (e) empower women and girls to claim their rights. The Strategic Plan emphasizes that “IDLO promotes gender equality by pursuing it as a stand-alone goal as well as by mainstreaming it throughout its work”.
