Overview & Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Lead and with technical guidance from the HQ-based Global Security Adviser, the Local Security Associate (FSA) monitors security issues in the assigned field locations, keeping management informed of security risks. The Local Security Associate supports the implementation of security policies and procedures  and practices, and provides inputs on all on the application of IDLO security directives and instructions.

Other countries can be added to the portfolio in the Middle East region depending on IDLO programmatic activities.

  • Assist in communication and coordination on security matters

Results Expected

  1. Support the implementation of security infrastructure and day-to-day operations in the field, under the guidance of supervisors
  2. Support the establishment and updating of security risk assessments, ensuring adaptation to the local security environment in order to contribute to risk mitigation in line with the IDLO Security Policy
  3. Identify potential threats and report findings, providing inputs (through the Programme Lead and/or the Global Security Adviser) on risks associated with projects and movements in the locality to support awareness and compliance
  4. Support capacity-building of IDLO personnel related to security, safety, and risk mitigation
  5. Assist in the review of security procedures and guidelines to ensure alignment with the IDLO Security Policy and in-country Security Risk Assessments, and provide inputs for improvements
  6. Assist in the review and updating of Country Security Plans (CSPs) for the field
  7. Support the Country Office in the development and implementation of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs)
  8. Provide inputs to the assessment of programme activities in terms of exposure, threats, and risks, and support the identification of appropriate mitigation measures
  9. Provide inputs, through the Programme Lead and/or the Global based Security Adviser, to support SMT in-country in ensuring that IDLO security procedures are aligned with the IDLO Security Policy and operational priorities
  10. Provide inputs, through the Programme Lead and/or the Global Security Adviser, on security risk assessments and related planning to support mitigation measures in IDLO operations
  11. Provide inputs, through the Programme Lead and/or the Global Security Adviser, on risks associated with work and the local environment, and on mitigation measures to support a culture of security
  12. Provide regular updates to the HQ-based Global Security Adviser and Security Coordinator on security developments in-country.
  13. Support the establishment and maintenance of networks with security representatives of the United Nations (UN), other organizations, service providers, diplomatic services, and local authorities, under the guidance of supervisors, to facilitate coordination and information-sharing

Job Requirements

Education and Work experience

  • Bachelor Degree 
  • At least 2- 3  years of experience in UN/NGO/IGO Security Management. Training experience preferred.

Languages

  • Fluent oral and writing skills in English and Arabic are required.

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Proficient use of other ICT software and internet software.

Terms & Conditions

For this locally recruited position, IDLO shall offer the selected candidate a local affiliate contract initially for 12 months, with the possibility of extension, subject to performance and availability of funding.

In addition, IDLO shall offer a yearly basic salary of  USD 25,176, medical insurance, and leave entitlements, including in accordance with IDLO Employee Regulations and Rules.

 

This local position is open to candidates who are nationals of the duty station or with permanent resident status or other legal authorization permitting them to work in the duty station. An employee subject to local recruitment shall not be eligible for the allowances or benefits exclusively applicable to international employees.
